Join us for our interactive workshop, beginning with a presentation on Project Management 101 by Alan Kennedy, CMC, LLB, Partner at Gibson Kennedy & Company and Faculty Member in Strategic Management and Municipal Leadership at Schulich Executive Education Centre.

Following the presentation, Alan will be joined by CMC-Canada members, Bob Dido, Consulting Director at Sierra Systems, Gwen Dido, Senior Strategy Consultant and Project Manager at IBM Canada, and Gail Severini, CEO at Symphini Change Management, in a panel discussion moderated by Abe Patricio, Senior Project Manager at Stantec.

The panelists will:

  • Discuss their background and their work as it relates to project management

  • Discuss what they think are important qualities that make a project and project manager successful, and what training or education can help you gain those skills and qualities

  • Answer your questions related to project management

Alan Kennedy, BA, LLB, CMC

Schulich Executive Education Centre

Alan Kennedy is a founding member and partner of Gibson Kennedy & Company, a management consulting firm offering strategy counsel and competitive research services. Alan’s consulting practice focuses exclusively on helping senior management with project planning and strategy communication. Alan has extensive experience facilitating group discussions and preparing issues for presentation to Boards and Management. Alan has been teaching courses on Strategic Management for the Schulich School of Business since 1992. Over 2500 executives have attended his very popular three-day course, Strategic Management, offered three times a year at the Schulich Executive Education Centre and twice a year by Saint Mary’s University’s Professional Development Division. He is also a faculty member in the Masters Certificate Program in Municipal Leadership at the Schulich Executive Education Centre. During his corporate career, Alan served as Senior Vice President & General Counsel for both Oxford Development Group and Campeau Corporation.

Alan is a Certified Management Consultant (CMC) and a member of the Honor Roll of the Institute of Certified Management Consultants of Ontario. He graduated from Dalhousie Law School in 1975.

Bob Dido, CMC, PMP, MBA, BCom

Bob Dido is Consulting Director, Financial Services for Sierra Systems. Dido joined Sierra in October 2009. He has held a number of management positions over that period of time. Dido is responsible for the creation of Sierra Systems Financial Services go-to-market strategy through the identification of market opportunities, industry-specific partnerships and acquisitions. He also designed the delivery of Sierra’s full range of management consulting, systems integration, and managed services solutions that meet the exact needs of their financial services clients.

Bob has over 37 years of marketing, finance, and banking and information technology experience behind him, including management roles at Ford Motor Company, Government of Canada, Department of Finance, as well as The Royal Bank of Canada.

Dido earned Bachelor of Commerce, with Honours in Marketing and Accounting from Queen’s, and an MBA in Finance from University of Western Ontario. He also holds the PMP and CMC professional designations.

Gwen Dido specializes as a change agent whether she is in the role of a Strategy Consultant or Senior Project Manager. She is a global solution leader streamlining and automating business processes to realize efficiencies and focus resources on strategic imperatives. She is a 25 year veteran with significant experiences in the financial services, telecommunications, pharmaceutical and retail sectors.

Gwen has a track record of repeat business with her clients based upon a trusted relationship and collaborative approach. Dido is a pioneering innovation engineer completing uncharted and mission-critical projects with tight timeframes.

She also specializes in Project Management Office (PMO) oversight and improvements.

Gwen earned a Bachelor of Commerce with Honours at Queen’s University, and holds the PMP and CMC professional designations.

Jim Love, FCMC

Jim Love is the chair of CMC Canada’s largest member services chapter, a Fellow, Certified Management Consultant (FCMC) and President and Managing Partner of Performance Advantage, a Canadian consulting company with international reach and experience in a range of industries, including financial services, natural resources, aerospace, health care, government, manufacturing, and high tech.

Jim is a consulting veteran with over 30 years of experience in both senior business and IT roles. His consulting career has included roles as Global Vice President for DMR Consulting and Principal at Ernst & Young. Jim is an expert in a number of consulting disciplines, including Strategy, Performance Metrics, Lean & Six Sigma, Portfolio Management, and Program Planning. He is passionate about leveraging people, processes and technology to enable high performance teams.

Jim has written numerous publications and is a frequent contributor to prestigious journals such as the U.S. based Cutter Journal. His recent articles include “Getting On the Same Page - Dashboards and Strategic Metrics”, May 2006, “Get Real With Strategic Budgeting”, March 2006 and “SOX Without Losing Your Shirt - Compliance and Process Transformation”, September 2005. He is currently working on a new series entitled “Portfolio Management Without Tears”.

Gail Severini, CMC

Gail is a Principal and co-founder of Symphini Change Management Inc., which focuses on leading and managing change. Gail has 20 years of experience implementing strategic change in various industries. She participates in several professional associations and serves on various advisory boards. Her articles and presentations are published regularly and she has been interviewed on the topic of Change Management, for example through BusinessWeek’s Market Advisory Board on “fresh ideas on how to manage through the recession”.
Gail is a graduate of Queen’s University and earned her Certified Management Consultant (CMC) designation in 1993. She continues as an active member of the Canadian Association of Management Consultants, sponsoring and mentoring prospective members. She is also Certified in Prosci Research’s Change Management Program.

Abe Patricio, CMC, MBA
Senior Project Manager,

Board Member, GTA Chapter, CMC-Canada

Abe Patricio is Senior Project Manager at Stantec. Prior to this, he held the role of Manager, Strategic Initiatives for Sears Canada where he was involved in the development of new business opportunities and improving operational performance from design and development to program implementation. His professional background and experience has been focused in the areas of project management, process reengineering and business development. He has been consistently successful in improving business performance and achieving business growth with years of experience in the retail industry and management consulting.

Abe has a Bachelor of Science in Engineering and an MBA from Schulich School of Business, York University.
