Wikis Demystified: Effective on-line collaboration for the web 2.0 world

Most of us have heard of Wikipedia, but how can nonprofit organizations benefit from this collaboration tool? Wiki allows users to freely create and edit Web page content using any Web browser. Allowing everyday users to create and edit any page in a Web site is exciting in that it encourages democratic use of the Web and promotes content composition by nontechnical users. This month we are going to look at Wikis and learn from case studies of.

Meg Kwasnicki is the Library Information Services manager with Imagine Canada. Her work in Librarianship has focused on information literacy, usability of electronic information delivery systems and social outreach. Within Imagine Canada she is responsible for developing library services to meet the needs of the Canadian Nonprofit Community. In addition, she works closely with a networked partnership of Nonprofit information service providers- the Canadian Nonprofit Library Network currently representing partners in Ontario and Alberta. Evelyn So is the president of Noesium consulting, with over 15 years of experience, she is a digital veteran who helps companies deliver products and services that customers notice, love, buy and keep. Evelyn expands customer experience by combining 5 disciplines: Human Computer Interaction/Usability, Social Psychology, Business Practices, Marketing, and Consumer Behaviours.
