SECTION 4: FEATURE STUDY OF THE MONTH return to top
———————————————————————————————————————————————–
Canada Survey of Giving, Volunteering and Participating, June 2009, Imagine Canada
Without volunteers, Endeavour Volunteer Consulting for Non-Profits would not exist. We are an organization run entirely by volunteers. According to the Canada Survey of Giving, Volunteering and Participating (CSGVP) released by Imagine Canada this month, almost half of Canadians volunteered in 2007.
It’s no surprise that the top two motivations reported for volunteering are to make a contribution to the community (93%), and to use skills and experience (77%). We also ask each of our volunteers why they decided to join Endeavour, and here are some of their responses:

“Working with Endeavour is a great opportunity to stay connected to local, grassroots organizations, and use skills strengthened in a corporate environment, for the betterment of our community. It’s a great way to connect with individuals from all walks of life, and work together to meet a common goal.” Hima Batavia, Telus Leadership Development Program, Volunteer Consultant since Fall 2007 |

“Cultivating positive change in society and management consulting are both Endeavour’s raison d’etre and my main passions. Helping non-profits achieve greater social impact, while collaborating with knowledgeable and talented team members, constitutes a valuable experience!” Alex Rascanu, University of Toronto Co-op Management Student, Spring/Summer 2009 Volunteer Consultant |
![]() |
“I joined the Endeavour Consulting Network to be able to apply my skills from private industry to the not-for-profit sector. I have gained not-for-profit experience on a volunteer basis in the past in leadership, planning and execution roles. I believe I can provide value to the organizations who are seeking assistance while learning a lot from them.” Judy Fields, Independent Consultant and Former VP of Tucows Inc., Spring/Summer 2009 Volunteer Engagement Manager |

“I joined Endeavour to make a real impact on non-profits, to work with and learn from talented consultants and to experience consulting engagements from a new perspective.” Randall Ettinger, Schulich MBA Student, Spring/Summer 2009 Volunteer Consultant |
