Organization
Food For The Poor Canada (FFPC), a registered Canadian charity, works in aid and development in the Caribbean and Latin America, and was created out of the mission and vision of the largest international aid agency in the US, Food For The Poor, Inc. - which over the last 27 years has built 55,000 homes, fed and clothed millions of people, and last year delivered 1.5 billion dollars in aid and development throughout 16 countries in the Caribbean and Latin America.
In FFPC’s first year of operation, it was able to leverage $15,000 in cash donations for shipping and container fees to deliver more than $3,300,000 in donated aid. This efficiency ratio of greater than 96% is matched by few other Canadian charities.
A few things FFPC is working on for 2009/2010:
- Delivering food aid to the people of Haiti
- Building schools in Jamaica
- Providing pharmaceuticals and medical supplies for various countries in the Caribbean and Latin America
