Organization
Contact Contemporary Music fosters the creation, production and presentation of contemporary music. The organization’s goals are to encourage emerging and established musical artists from diverse communities (including the Lesbian Gay Bi-Sexual Transgender and other minority and/or ethnic communities) in the free expression of their unique life experiences however different from those not from their particular communities, creating and perpetuating a repertoire that reflects present realities.
Contact Contemporary Music began as a collective of performers and composers who organized concerts in casual settings, transcending any perceived boundaries between artist and audience. The idea was to engage and excite an audience, making contemporary music available and accessible to anyone and everyone who would venture a listen… hence the name “Contact”.
Eventually Contact Contemporary Music evolved, presenting concerts featuring guest composers and performing artists while enlisting a regular group of young musicians dedicated to performing adventurous new music. From these concerts, CONTACT, the ensemble began to emerge.
