Windfall Basics: Strategic Planning for Earned Income Venture
About the Client Windfall Basics brings the combination of charity and acts of green to a whole new level. Founded in 1991 to assist homeless and emergency shelters meet their clients’ needs for new clothing, Windfall now annually distributes over $28 million worth of new clothing and basic needs items to over 90 social services agencies in the Toronto area, keeping over 200 tons of product out of landfills. About the Consulting Engagement Windfall receives hundreds of high-end, brand-new wedding gowns each year. However, Windfall has not been able to distribute them to partner agencies because its client base has little need for wedding dresses. In Spring 2009, Windfall engaged Endeavour to develop a strategic plan for a self-sustaining bridal boutique to sell the donated wedding gowns. The bridal boutique would not only offer affordable wedding dresses to brides-to-be, but also act as a source of sustainable annual revenues for Windfall’s programs. |
