While communications was her starting point, Helen quickly caught the social change bug when she moved into a position managing a global social marketing program for Ericsson telecommunications. Designed to encourage nonprofits from around the world to use Internet and communications technology to achieve their mission, the program introduced Helen to the challenging and immensely rewarding process of working between the sectors, building partnerships and developing sustainable solutions that deliver value to both the business and the community. From there, Helen spent several years with the Imagine Caring Company program, directing communications and member relations for Canada’s corporate citizenship standard of excellence as it was redesigned to respond to the changing reality of corporate programming and needs. Helen then moved into a consulting role with GrantStream, a Canadian company that provides consulting and technology solutions focused on community investment and was able to apply her experience with building signature initiative programs with a firm knowledge of the Canadian non-profit sector.
Today, Helen manages Corporate Responsibility at AstraZeneca Canada and looks after responsible business initiatives as well as the company’s community support programming. As a mother of two little kids, there isn’t much that scares Helen these days. Except perhaps bedtime.
