Volunteer Legal Advisor
About Endeavour Volunteer Consulting for Non-Profits (Endeavour)
Founded in 2007, Endeavour Volunteer Consulting for Non-Profits (Endeavour) brings together skilled volunteers to provide pro-bono consulting services to non-profit organizations in Toronto and surrounding regions.
The Executive Team is made up of University of Toronto MBA, business and engineering graduates currently working in the consulting, investment, IT and telecommunications industries (representing Deloitte Consulting, Accenture, Hugessen Consulting, Satov Consultants, RBC Asset Management, Middlefield Capital, Microsoft and TELUS). The advisors to the executive and consulting teams bring their expertise from their professional experiences at the Rotman School of Management, Accenture, TELUS and private consulting.
Volunteer Role
Endeavour is currently looking for a law student/graduate or lawyer to serve as an ongoing legal advisor to the Executive Team. Tasks may include research, analysis, advice, drafting documents, and legal procedures related to:
- Risk management, including volunteer liability
- Non-profit incorporation
- Charitable registration
- Governance
- All other legal issues that arise
Requirements
- Law student/graduate or lawyer
- Strong attention to detail
- Excellent research, analytical and writing skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Interest in volunteering your skills and knowledge to assist a new volunteer organization working with various volunteers and non-profits
- Commitment of at least one year
- Flexible approach to work
- Relevant experience or knowledge preferred
- Interest in business/non-profit law an asset
