Endeavour Volunteer Consulting for Non-Profits (Endeavour) is a registered Canadian charity that provides management consulting to improve organizational capacity and community impact. We focus on serving non-profit organizations that otherwise cannot afford professional consulting. Since 2007, Endeavour has recruited and managed more than 300 volunteers to provide management advice to more than 50 non-profit organizations in Ontario, helping communities in many areas, such as the arts, children and family services, disabilities, education, environment, healthcare, immigrant services, rural development, skills training, poverty relief, and youth development. Endeavour is looking for a committed and passionate volunteer with experience in research and evaluation to build and lead the organization’s Research and Evaluation unit to support Endeavour’s strategic directions and growth.


As the Director of Research and Evaluation, you will be responsible for the following activities, with the opportunity for leadership growth based on performance and growth of portfolio.

1. Evaluate and Communicate Impact

In collaboration with the leadership team, you will be responsible for leading the development, implementation, review and refinement of the organization’s evaluation strategy and model with a focus on impact and learning, including:

  • Working with the Consulting Division and Human Resources Division to develop/refine and implement evaluation strategies and plans to assess client, project and volunteer impact
  • Synthesizing and analyzing data from evaluations to produce semi-annual/annual reports on client and volunteer impact in the short and long term, and communicating findings/insights in meaningful ways to different stakeholders
  • Working with volunteers, clients and other stakeholders to develop case studies, with editing and publishing support from Communications and Marketing
  • Staying abreast of new publications and trends in research and evaluation to inform Endeavour’s strategy and direction

2. Create and Disseminate Knowledge

Working in collaboration with multiple stakeholders, you will develop and grow Endeavour’s body of knowledge and publications to build, inform and promote Endeavour, volunteer consulting and the non-profit sector, including:

  • Developing a plan to build Endeavour’s body of knowledge and publications, including identifying key themes, insights and lessons from Endeavour’s work with clients, volunteers and partners
  • Developing and authoring case studies, articles and reports sharing key insights and lessons in strategic management and volunteer consulting in the non-profit sector
  • Working with Communications and Marketing to publish and promote Endeavour’s insights and publications to target audiences through a variety of channels
  • Staying abreast of new publications and trends in the nonprofit sector, consulting industry and pro bono community to inform Endeavour’s strategy and direction

As the Director, Research and Evaluation you will also be responsible for:

  • Promoting the use of evaluation across the organization to enhance learning and development
  • Recruiting and managing committee members and leading team meetings, as required
  • Participating in and occasionally leading quarterly executive team meetings
  • Supporting the Senior Leadership Team in developing and achieving strategic goals
  • Developing and documenting relevant policies/processes to support internal knowledge transfer
  • Reporting to the Board of Directors on research and evaluation activities, as required



  • Experience in evaluation/social research, preferably in the non-profit sector
  • Excellent written and verbal communications and presentation skills
  • Ability to analyze and synthesize data and research to derive insights and make recommendations
  • Ability to work collaboratively across different departments and with multiple stakeholders
  • Excellent research, planning and organization skills
