Endeavour is looking for a committed and passionate volunteer with experience in evaluation to lead the organization’s Evaluation unit. The Evaluation unit within the President’s Office plays an important role in contributing to the organization’s mission and success by using evaluation to demonstrate and grow Endeavour’s impact, inform strategic directions and programming, and foster a culture of learning, improvement and innovation.


Reporting to the President, the Director of Evaluation is responsible for leading the implementation and refinement of the organization’s evaluation framework and systems with a focus on impact and learning. Responsibilities include the following:

  • Collaborate with the Consulting Division, Human Resources Division and President’s Office to implement and refine evaluation strategies, plans, methods and tools to assess and demonstrate the impact of Endeavour projects on clients (nonprofits and corporate partners) and volunteers
  • Build the evaluation capacity of the organization by managing and mentoring a team of evaluation associates to carry out evaluation activities, including but not limited to data collection and analysis (e.g. online surveys, interviews), and writing evaluation summaries/reports
  • Lead the implementation and refinement of a newly developed key performance indicator (KPI) framework to monitor the implementation of Endeavour’s strategic plan and to inform planning
  • Promote a culture of evaluation and learning for continuous improvement and innovation, including coordinating with the Executive Team to develop and monitor strategic KPIs and working with the Human Resources Division on the annual internal volunteer engagement survey
  • Prepare semi-annual/annual reports/presentations on client and volunteer impact, and communicate/present results/findings/insights in meaningful ways to internal audiences (e.g. Board of Directors) and external stakeholders (e.g. partners/potential funders)
  • Support the Marketing & Communications Division to publish data and case studies/impact stories that demonstrate and promote Endeavour’s impact and insights through a variety of channels
  • Document and refine monitoring and evaluation processes and systems to support ongoing evaluations activities, internal knowledge transfer and organizational sustainability
  • Stay abreast of new publications, standards and trends in evaluation to inform Endeavour’s strategies and practices

As a member of the Executive Team, you will also be responsible for the following::

  • Recruit, orient and train evaluation team members, and organize and lead evaluation team meetings
  • Participate in and occasionally lead quarterly Executive Team meetings
  • Support the Senior Leadership Team in developing and achieving strategic goals, including occasionally participating in Senior Leadership Team meetings as required
  • Present evaluation reports/activities to the Board of Directors, as required
  • Manage the Evaluation unit’s budget
  • Ensure the Evaluation section on the corporate portal is complete and up-to-date



  • Relevant university degree
  • Professional experience in evaluation
  • Leadership and project management experience
  • Excellent communications, presentation and teamwork skills
  • Ability to analyze and synthesize data and research to derive insights and make recommendations
  • Ability to work collaboratively across different departments and with multiple stakeholders
  • Strong planning, organization and time management skills
  • Ability to take initiative, lead, collaborate and deliver results in a virtual work environment
  • Availability to attend meetings in Toronto
  • Commitment of at least 2 years to the position


  • Evaluation experience in the nonprofit sector, especially with small nonprofits
  • Experience with Endeavour or similar volunteer consulting organization
  • Demonstrated passion for Endeavour’s mission
